I love the calming rhythm of hand stitch, the pulling of needle through fabric, the images capturing a moment or object seen through the eyes of an interested observer.

The work is built in layers, dyed scrim embellished onto linen to give broad areas of colour. The detail comes from the hand stichery over the surface.

I have embroidered since I was a child - my mother enrolled me on a stitching class on a Saturday morning and I have retained my love of textiles. My career path however did not include textiles - I qualified as a solicitor and have also worked in retail and education.

Throughout all this embroidery has played a major part in my life - keeps my sanity!I took a City and Guilds qualification in Hand Embroidery which I completed through an evening class whilst working full time. I have attended numerous classes and summer schools, some organised by the Embroiderers Guild, of which I am a Life Member.

I am also now a member of an exhibiting group - ISE (Inspiration for Stitch and Expression). We are a group of textile artists committed to developing our work in a supportive collaboration.
