Quirky farm and wild animals in Welsh landscapes, drawn in black ink dots. Mostly black and white with bits of colour.

You like animals - right?? And birds?? Well I draw them!! Quirky farm and wild ones, mostly in Welsh landscapes, using a mad and time-consuming dot technique in black Indian ink. 'Pointillism' if you want to look it up.

Having drawn since the age of 4, I didn't go to art collage and am essentially self-taught. I kept drawing, admittedly in an ad-hoc and inconsistent manner, through a career as a Landscape Architect. The first proper ‘commercial’ attempt was through frustration at my abject failure to find a wedding card of kissing sheep for a farming friend's wedding. So I drew one and stuck it in an oak frame. Having received accolades for a school art-homework pencil portrait drawn purely in dots I thought that technique in ink would translate well into wool, fur and feathers. Turns out it did.

The positive feedback convinced me that I might be able to turn this madness into more than a hobby and have since produced various pet and animal commissions for wedding and birthday presents but mostly stuff for my own enjoyment. I turn the originals into prints and blank greetings and Christmas cards, including some Welsh versions available, along with some originals, via my website and various art galleries - just in Wales at the moment but with global ambitions.  You can see, but more importantly buy, my work in Artworks2 Betws y Coed, Oriel Seren Machynlleth and Oriel Aeron Aberaeron.
