Tammy Jenson

Artist Website:

Nottingham,  Nottinghamshire

Tammy Jenson is a contemporary surrealism artist and illustrator, living in Nottingham. Her artwork is influenced by everything, from nature to animals, literature, magic and fairy-tales, but mostly her own family. Tammy spends all of her time doodling away at home with her little Shih-Tzu by her side.

I live in a beautiful 'hidden away' close in Nottingham with my husband and two children, and our little furry animals. Originally from Liverpool, I have travelled and lived in many other countries, finally settling in Nottingham - with countryside and nature surrounding me.

My creative flair was always apparent from a very young age. From the time I could hold a pen, I have been drawing. Yet, never took myself to art school, but opted to study English Literature instead (still doodling in my spare time). This formed a writing career, until I had my two children and the writing (and art) was put on hold for several years.

Fast forward a few years, and I began to draw again, with my main influences being my children. This is where my 'big eyed girl' has developed from. 'Kuki' is based on my teenage daughter, and the funny things she talks about - and I sit and doodle, based around her amusing chats, into my sketchbook. My images are very surreal - and yes, my daughter has an odd obsession with creepy clowns! My daughter's imagination is truly wonderful, and she is my inspiration for my 'Kuki' range of artwork. As is my beautiful son, so look out for the new range coming soon.
